Tata Sky...with tata to service

On the 31st Government had made my area guinea pigs for CAS. With lot of confusion between set-top box and satellite TV, we opted for Tata SKY(satellite TV). I was promised that once you book your Tata sky set-top box and pay your money to the dealer, installation of the dish antenna will be done within 48 hours of the time.
I bought my Tata Sky on 5th of January 2007. To confirm my installation date and time I had given a call to the customer care center. I learned that it is scheduled on 7th of January between 1:30 to 3:20. I was amazed with the service they gave us. But what happens on 7th of January. I waste my day waiting for those people and no body turns up. Later that night when I gave another call to their helpline. The person speaking to me apologize in a very professional manner and promised me that he will ask one of his senior member to give me a call within next 2 hours. I was again happy with his answer. I took my complaint id and waited for the call. But there was no ring till I slept that night.
The next day I gave a call again on their helpline only to learn the other person who attended my call also said the same thing in the very same polite manner that i shall get a call within next 2 hours because my installation was not done.

This continued and I realised that their helpline is not useful at all since the puppets sitting out their are paid to speak politely and give false promises for doing our work. They had no co-ordination between field engineers and their office.
Their system was so bad that in spite of selecting language as English I was answered in Hindi. Their great assurance was of no use, since everytime we give a call to them the person who had last assured you never picks up the phone, so you get a false assurance again.

Great thing is you can dial their helpline number only from mtnl/bsnl landline numbers or else you have to make an std call to pune for your complaint.
These calls are not toll free they are charged.
So Tata was earning money here also.

After my prolong attempts to schedule an appointment they turned up nearly 10-15 days late. But one thing was sure that the reception of the signal and as a product Tata sky was really unbeatable. The clearity in the picture which you get was amazing. Hence my advice to you would be please handle the first installation properly other things are very much superior as compared to the set top box.
